This Memorial Day we honor the men and women who gave all so that we may all enjoy our freedom
Americans are about to celebrate what they see as the beginning of summer and a time for heading to vacation spots or staying home and BBQing. What we must all celebrate and reflect upon is that since the "Shot heard around the world", men and women have answered this Nation's call and protected our liberties. They have also departed the warmth of their homes and the love of their families to provide the hope of freedom to others.
As we are a Nation at war with Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism, let us stop to give honor to those who have made the "last full measure of devotion". Sir Edmund Burke stated, "all that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing".

Among the many reverberations of President Obama’s election, here is one he probably never anticipated: at least 32 African-Americans are running for Congress this year as Republicans, the biggest surge since Reconstruction, according to party officials....
“I ran in 2008 and raised half a million dollars, and the state party didn’t support me and the national party didn’t support me,” said Allen West, who is running for Congress in Florida and is one of roughly five black candidates the party believes could win. “But we came back and we’re running and things are looking great.”
